Benefits of Water

A very important factor for good health is the consumption of water. A healthy humanbeing needs 7 to 8 glasses of water a day. Only those people with certain heart problems or some other medical problems are restricted to have only 800 to 1000 ml of water a day.

According to science and research, our bodies are anywhere from 55% to 78% water. Our brain alone is 90% water. Hence some of our migraines and headaches are caused by the deprivation of water in our bodies.

The benefits of water are numerous. One of the most important benefits of water is the detoxification of our bodies.

Once I heard Dr. Deepak Chopra say that the skin of a person deprived of water is like a prune compared to the one who drinks the required amount of water, which is like a plum.

Most of the time, water helps in getting rid of cramps in our legs and toes. This has been my personal experience.

Poem - Love

                       Love

Is love the longing for his touch
Or is it simply longing for his presence?
One seems insatiable want of the flesh,
While the other calm, yet mourns at his absence.

I wonder if they are the twin heads of one feeling
That changes from affection to desire
Though separated love causes intensity of suffering
Presence of love in itself brings warmth through its fire.

Age is just a number and no barrier for love
One is not aware when and how it creeps in
It may enter the soul as innocent as a dove
Or take your heart into a wild spin

Yet life devoid of love, with all its riches is poor
And life filled with love, in spite of poverty is rich.

Contentment

Contentment

The key to being content is counting our blessings. If we start counting our blessings starting from roof over our heads, beds to sleep, food to survive..... we will feel that we have so much compared to the have-nots, that we will be truly grateful and that will bring happiness which is essential for good health.

"Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty" - Socrates

"We are not rich by what we possess but what we can do without." Immanuel Kant

"Happiness is not a goal--- Its a by-product of a life well lived."
Eleanor Roosevelt

Walking

Hope you have enjoyed the recipes. If you have any q1uestions, please email gertrude.martins@gmail.com

Walking is the best exercise. It is better than running, as

running eventually will harm your knees. Walking on the

other hand is the safest and most beneficial exercise that you

can get engaged in at any age.

"Now shall I walk? 'Ride,' Pleasure said; 'Walk,' Joy replied.
by William Henry Davies

"There comes .......a longing never to travel again except on foot." by Wendell Berry

"But the beauty is in walking - - - we are betrayed by destinations." by Gwyn Thomas
