Fenugreek seeds: Fenugreek seeds are known to have health values. Soaking a
teaspoon full of these seeds overnight in ¾ glass of water and drinking the water is
not only good for health, but is known to control diabetes. Don’t ever substitute
this remedy for your medication, especially if your sugar level is high, but do it along with
your medication.
Cumin Seeds - Jira: 1 tablespoon of lightly toasted cumin seeds are eaten with a pinch
of sugar when you lose your voice. Make two portions and eat at an interval of three to
four hours.
Cumin seeds eaten with a pinch of salt are extremely useful in getting rid of gas and
improving digestion. In South India Jira Pani or Cumin Water is given in the restaurants
during dinner.
How to prepare Jira Water?
Boil 1tbs of Jira in 4 glasses of water. It is very beneficial to drink it warm. You may drink
this water throughout the day instead of water.
When you get cramps in your calves or toes, get up and walk. If they don’t go away,
drink one or two glasses of water. I read it somewhere, that it is dehydration that causes
cramps. Since I have been getting cramps since I was 14 years old, and have tried
everything, I can assure you that drinking water with some sugar does work. Heating pad
or hot bean bag also gives comfort.
